This page explains what personal data we collect when you shop at behindtheride.com, why we collect it, who we share it with, and what you can do about it.

Who is responsible

What data we collect
- Data you give us: name, address, email, phone number and payment details when you order.
- Order data: what you buy, your order and payment history, and any returns.
- Technical data: IP address, device and browser data, and cookie IDs (see the cookie statement).
- Messages you send us by email or customer service.
Why we use it
- To process your order, deliver it and handle returns (to carry out our contract with you).
- For contact and customer service (our contract, or our legitimate interest).
- To meet legal obligations such as tax retention (a legal duty).
- For the newsletter and marketing, including personalising and segmenting it (your consent, which you can withdraw whenever you want).
- To improve and analyse the webshop (legitimate interest, or your consent for analytical and marketing cookies).
Who we share it with
We only share data where it's needed, with parties including Shopify and Shopify Payments (platform, hosting and payments), Klarna (payments), Sendcloud and the carriers (shipping), Klaviyo (email marketing and newsletter, including segmentation), Trengo (customer service) and Google (Google Analytics 4). We never sell your data.
Data outside the EU
Some of these parties, such as Shopify and Google, process data partly outside the EU. They do so under safeguards such as the EU Standard Contractual Clauses or the EU-US Data Privacy Framework.
How long we keep it
We don't keep data longer than needed. Order and invoice data stay for 7 years, because tax law requires it. Marketing data stays until you unsubscribe, which you can do with one click at the bottom of any marketing email. The rest we delete once it's no longer needed.
Your rights
You can ask to see your data, correct it, delete it, limit its use, object to its use, or take it with you. You can also withdraw your consent. Email privacy@behindtheride.com to do any of this. You can also complain to the Dutch Data Protection Authority (Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens).
Security and changes
We take suitable technical and organisational measures to keep your data safe. We may update this statement, and the current version is always on behindtheride.com.
